DRS/NTS update
TSSA representatives continue to be in discussions with Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), International Nuclear Services (INS), Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) and Direct Rail Services (DRS) management about the new organisation, how it will operate and how it will affect TSSA members at DRS.
Up to now, the talks have been high level: we have been informed of how the new structures will be formed and about senior appointments to each of the departments which will reside within NTS. Howeverm we had not reached the point where management had an obligation to conduct meaningful consultation regarding those TSSA members who fall within collective bargaining. We have now arrived at the appropriate time – described by management as 'CEO-3' – to begin discussions which are more relevant to the members we represent.
TSSA will ensure that management fulfil their obligations to consult fully with representatives in this regard and that no member’s employment status is affected without their agreement.
No changes
It is important to explain that, to date, no changes to your job description, terms of conditions of employment or contract should have taken place – at most, the only ones that could permissibly have occurred by this point are to reporting lines. If you have experienced changes such as those described above, you should contact your TSSA representative immediately.
It should be remembered that although some people will eventually work within the realms of the new NTS organisation they will remain employed by DRS and protected by the collective bargaining agreement between DRS and TSSA.
TSSA will update you when any further information becomes available.
