Merseyrail: General Grades 2026 Pay Referendum on revised 24 month offer

Following further talks the company has tabled a 24 month pay offer, which if accepted will mean members will be paid upfront for the entire period of the offer, please have your say on the offer by voting by 12 noon on Friday 17th July.


Talks 13th July

Following lengthy talks with Merseryrail on Monday 13th July to find an improved pay offer the full and final offer from the employer is as below:

“ Following a further meeting today, please find below confirmation of an improved and best and final pay offer to settle pay for General Grades for 2026:

  • 7.25% settlement for a 24 month pay deal backdated to 25 January 2026. The next pay anniversary date is effective from 30 January 2028.
    • For the following roles, an increase of £1,250 or 7.25%, whichever is greater: Onboard Cleaners, Station Assistant's, Van Drivers & Apprentices”


Members vote

Despite you having already voted on a previous offer it is only right and proper that you have sight and a chance to vote on this new offer. Please remember that this is effectively a 2 year deal with all the pay increase up front therefore there will be no pay increase in 2027, but you are essentially getting the benefit of an additional 3.25% upfront which is for next year. Remember that any overtime that you have worked will also be backdated to January based on your new basic pay after the 7.25% has been awarded.


You will only have a few days to vote and the vote will close at 12 noon on Friday 17th July, so please vote ASAP!
