TransPennine Express: Union Learning Representatives Election
The company has advised us that they intend on restarting the TransPennine Express Learning Forum which hasn’t operated for a number of years. TSSA has the facility to have 2 representatives attend this body and there is likely to be a meeting taking place on 20 September 2024 to kick this off. Currently we have no Union Learning Representatives to attend this forum and therefore I wish to call for nominations from Members for the 2 vacant positions.
The Role of Union Learning Representatives (ULR):
The agreement with the company which you can find in the link below outlines the role/key functions of the Union Learning Representatives (ULR) as including:
- Analysing learning needs.
- Providing information and advice about learning and personal development.
- Arranging and supporting learning.
- Promoting the value of learning and personal development in accordance with the strategic objectives of the Forum.
- Consulting the company in relation to such activities.
- Preparation in relation to any of the above.
- Reporting back to the forum
As a ULR you will be entitled to paid time off to attend training to learn the role and also to take part in your duties as per the agreement in the link below.
If interested, you must complete the Nomination form which can be found by clicking here please print and complete the form, sign it and get 6 TSSA members to nominate you then scan and email it to valentinea@tssa.org.uk by Noon on Thursday 5th September.
In order to stand for election as a TSSA Union Learning Representative, prospective candidates must:
- be a member of TSSA;
- be employed by TransPennine Express;
- have a minimum of six months service with TransPennine Express;
- support the principles of the TransPennine Union Learning Representatives Bargaining Procedure. (Contained in the link below)
Prospective candidates must also be supported by six nominators, each one of whom must meet the criteria in the bullet points above which apply to prospective candidates.
If after the close of nominations, I receive more than 2 valid nominations then I will write out to members to conduct and election. If I need to do this, I might need to temporarily co-opt attendees for the meeting in September.
