Bosses must have zero tolerance for covid, says TSSA re Manchester Piccadilly

Commenting on reports that dozens of rail staff from Manchester Piccadilly are self-isolating, transport union TSSA said "bosses must have zero tolerance for covid."

Reports emerged today (Wednesday) of a Covid-19 outbreak at Manchester Piccadilly train station, with 11 staff testing positive and dozens of their colleagues now self-isolating. Avanti and Network Rail are the main employers for the station and rail staff affected.

TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes said: “Our thoughts are with our members and other Avanti staff who may have contracted Covid or who are self-isolating and waiting for test results.

“Our union view is very clear: rail bosses must have zero tolerance to the propagation of this deadly virus, whatever that takes. Lives must come first.”
