Korea Rail and Metro Unions strike
Six Korean Rail and Metro Unions are balloting for strike action for the first time.
Manuel Cortes wrote to them expressing our solidarity.
Letter reads:
Dear Comrades,
I am writing on behalf of our union to express solidarity and support for the courageous struggle of Korea Rail and Metro Unions in standing up for decent, safe, and secure jobs and a transport system that works for all.
The struggles that you face mirror the struggles of workers in Britain and Ireland, and around the world. The coronavirus pandemic has shown that the hard work, dedication, and resilience of transport workers has kept our communities and countries moving. Workers around the world must now ensure that transport workers achieve the pay, conditions, and job security that they deserve.
International solidarity is needed now more than ever, it is clear that the Korean government is showing the same contempt for working people that we have seen from the Conservative government in the UK.
The actions of your six unions taking industrial action in six cities is an inspiration to our members in Britain and Ireland, our members will take heart in your determination and courage.
I look forward to hearing of your victory, please get in touch if we can be of any assistance.
In Solidarity,
Manuel Cortes
