News - Johnson and Sunak must resign after ‘Partygate’ fines

TSSA General Secretary, Manuel Cortes, has said Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak must resign after being issued with fines for illegal parties during the Covid pandemic. 

Cortes said that having broken lockdown laws the Prime Minister and Chancellor “must go without delay” after making the rules then ignoring them. 

Commenting, union leader Cortes said: “Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak must now resign - people up and down the land will expect nothing less. You simply can’t make the laws and then choose to ignore them in a democracy. 

“Flouting strict lockdown rules in the greatest health emergency in decades is no small beer. The British people made huge sacrifices during the Covid pandemic while those at the top partied on.   

“No government can behave in such a way. Johnson and his mates must now face the consequences of their rule breaking, and the PM’s repeated lies to Parliament. They must go and go without delay.”
