TSSA condemns low pay at TfL

TSSA today condemned Transport for London (TfL) for failing for the second consecutive year to align its pay ranges with the updated London Living Wage (LLW), despite being a LLW employer.

The London Living Wage increased by 5.3% in October 2024, and accredited employers are expected to reflect this in their pay structures. However, TfL's lowest pay range, set in April 2024, remains at £24,250—nearly £1,000 below the current LLW of £25,207.

TSSA General Secretary Maryam Eslamdoust said: “TfL should be leading the way on fair pay in London, yet it has fallen behind. This issue should have been addressed proactively when the new London Living Wage was announced. As a public entity TfL must do better.

“Trade unions in TfL have faced challenges in negotiating pay, with 55% of the lowest pay bands seeing no increases due to pay range caps. TfL refuses to bargain with us for Graduates and Apprentices pay and have recently derecognised Senior Managers.

“TfL should be setting the standard for decent pay in London, not trying to play catch up.”
