TSSA union backs Monica Lennon for Scottish Labour leadership

Monica Lennon - MSP outside Scottish parliament

TSSA union has announced its support for Monica Lennon as leader of Scottish Labour party.

Manuel Cortes said “Monica Lennon is in politics to win for working people. She has the right policies and the right approach to keep Scottish Labour at the forefront for Scottish workers.

"Lennon’s recent success with the Period Poverty Bill demonstrates her understanding of the issues that face working class people in Scotland today, and her tenacity and ability in fighting for them through the Scottish Parliament.

"I am delighted that our TSSA family has decided to support Monica Lennon’s nomination.”

Monica Lennon said "I am proud to have the endorsement of TSSA in my bid to become leader of the Scottish Labour Party.

"People who work in our transport and travel industries have kept our country moving, often at great risk to themselves.

"As leader of Scottish Labour, my mission will be to deliver the radical social and economic change that Scotland needs.

"The pandemic has exposed and exacerbated the health and wealth inequalities that have shamed Scotland for too long.

"Things have to change, and working with trade unions, my priority will be building the people's recovery that Scotland needs."
