TSSA today condemned the actions of far-right demonstrators who set buses and a Luas tram on fire in Dublin yesterday (Thursday).

Following the stabbing of a teacher and three children riots broke out in the city centre in which buses and a Luas were set on fire by rightwing thugs.

TSSA General Secretary Maryam Eslamdoust said, “We send our solidarity to all the transport workers who were caught up in last night’s riot, whilst attempting to do their job. No-one should be put at risk whilst doing their work. What happened last night is unacceptable.

“We unequivocally condemn the actions of the rioters who attacked transport workers and firefighters attempting to put out the blaze. We also express our thanks to the Garda, ambulance workers, and firefighters who responded to this situation.

“We would also like to send our sympathies to the schoolteacher and young children who were injured yesterday.”
