Avanti Strike Action Notification
Are you ready for action? TSSA has today announced strike action for stations grades members in Avanti West Coast to take place on Wednesday 27 July.
All TSSA members in stations grades are asked not to work and not to turn up to work on Wednesday 27 July. The action covers the period from 00:01 to 23:59 on Wednesday 27 July. Please liaise with your reps about attending picket lines. Let us know direct if you are interested in attending a picket line.
This action aligns with RMT strike action taking place on the same day.
We are demanding a guarantee of:
- No compulsory redundancies
- A pay rise which meets the cost-of-living crisis
- No unagreed changes to terms and conditions
Despite TSSA officials attending talks with the Rail Delivery Group (the industry body leading on talks for train operators) no offers have been made on the above. In fact, employers and the Department for Transport are now proposing to close ticket offices and change your pensions – on top of all the existing issues!
Our reps are meeting tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss in further detail what this strike action will look like and further steps. Please tell your rep your view.
TSSA continues to fight for better pay and conditions for you at work. Thank you for your response in the recent ballot – this has strengthened our position in talks and there is clear movement, but not enough. That’s why we’re asking you to come out on strike on Wednesday 27 July. We know this isn’t easy and it’s not something that TSSA takes lightly. But it is the moment to stand up and be counted and demand better.
Management grades are not affected and are not able to take strike action given the ballot result for that group not meeting the legal minimum threshold. Management grade members are expected to work as normal and can refer to guidance about working when action is being taken by another group.
Members at the following stations are included in action on Wednesday 27 July:
Birmingham International Station, Birmingham New Street Station, Coventry Station, Crewe Station, Edinburgh Waverley Station, Glasgow Central Station, Lancaster Station, Liverpool Lime Street, London Euston Station, Manchester Piccadilly Station, Milton Keynes Central Station, Preston Station Buildings, Rugby Station, Runcorn Station, Stafford Station, Stockport Station, Stoke-on-Trent Station, Warrington Bank Quay Station.
