GWR: Formal 2025 Pay offer and members vote
Following Company Council meeting held on Thursday 28th August we have been advised that the Department for Transport (DFT) have granted GWR a mandate to make a formal offer to us.
This consists of a pay offer of 3.4% backdated to the relevant anniversary dates (or from the relevant anniversary date if this is in the future) with the following Productivity Items:
Introduction of Class 175/HS2
A commitment to positively engage in and support the introduction of the Class 175 trains into service within GWR, together with a commitment to work positively and collaboratively in supporting GWR’s operational challenges and responsibilities in the delivery of HS2 works for the lifetime of the pay deal.
Absence Policy Management
A commitment to positively support a collaborative review of all elements of current absence management policies, working towards the design and agreement of a new unified policy through the Policy & Guidance Forum.
In addition to the 2025 pay deal, we also offer:
Electric Vehicle Scheme
GWR will look to implement an electric vehicle scheme that will be available to all eligible colleagues
Mental Health First Aiders
Through an amendment to the current leave policy, GWR will add the entitlement for one additional annual leave day each year for active Mental Health First Aiders.
This pay offer is for all eligible collectively recognised colleagues, effective from their respective pay anniversary date.
In addition, any ex-colleagues who have left GWR between their pay anniversary date and the agreement date will also be eligible for any back dated pay due.
Points of clarity that TSSA asked during the pay meeting:
- Leavers - If someone has left the company after their 2025 anniversary date, they are still entitled to the pro rata pay rise for the period worked up until the agreement date
- New Management Collective Bargaining - Management grades who had a membership check to prove that they wanted collective bargaining by having the majority of them in TSSA membership earlier in the year will be covered by this offer. (Namely Driver Management, Driver Learning Management and Customer Service Managers previously call Customer Ambassadors).
- Assuming that the offer is accepted the earliest pay the offer could be paid is in the October pay slips, subject to Payroll capacity.
On reviewing this offer your TSSA Representatives believe that it is the best offer that is achievable through negotiation, having increased from the initial 2.8% no strings offer that was made at the beginning of the talks. Therefore, TSSA is recommending members accept it and will send out Survey links direct to members for them to vote on the deal.
The survey will be open to TSSA members and will close at 12 noon on Monday 15th September
