Make the right call and report your concerns

CIRAS is the confidential safety hotline for transport. Its Make the Right Call campaign encourages anyone working in transport to make the right call and report their safety concerns to make sure they are heard. CIRAS explains more here.
Ways to be heard
If you’re concerned about health, wellbeing and safety in the workplace, change can only happen when those concerns are heard. When you have something to say, it’s important to speak up, and it’s equally important that you’re listened to.
You have reporting options. These are some of the ways you can raise concerns:
- Tell a supervisor or your manager.
- Use other company reporting channels, including raising a close call.
- Speak to your union rep.
- Contact CIRAS confidential safety hotline.
CIRAS is available if you prefer to raise your concerns in confidence, with your identity protected, or if you’ve already tried using other reporting channels without success. You can raise concerns through CIRAS whether you’ve already reported them or if they’re new concerns.
If your concern is urgent, please use more immediate reporting channels instead of CIRAS.
Report concerns confidentially
When you report confidentially through CIRAS, your identity is protected. We listen carefully and impartially to your concern. We then send our report to the right people so they can act on it. They won’t know who you are, but they'll know about your concern.
You can use CIRAS to report concerns to your employer or to other companies working in transport. We share their response with you so you know what's happened as a result of raising a concern. Reporters to CIRAS always receive a response from the company their report is for.
After you raise a concern through the CIRAS reporting app (available on Google Play and the App Store), website form, hotline or freepost, one of our reporting analysts will call you at a time that suits you to follow up and listen to fully understand. We listen to hear, not to react.
You can find more about the CIRAS reporting process and the concerns we take on our website. There are case studies too, and you can read our Frontline Matters newsletter online.
Build a listening culture
Why does listening matter for safe workplaces, and what difference does it make? What does listening well look like? How can you help build a listening culture where you work? Our campaign explores this and more: scroll down our campaign page to our articles. On the same page, you’ll find our reporting contact information and a link to the website reporting form.
