Industrial action ballots are coming – vote YES!
This is a communication to TSSA members in train operating companies.
Your industrial action ballots are coming – vote YES!
Look out for ballot papers landing through your letterbox next week. TSSA has today written to your employer notifying them that we will be issuing industrial action ballot papers one week from today, 1 February.
There will be two questions on the ballot paper. We are asking you to vote YES to strike action and YES to action short of strike.
This is a re-ballot in our long-running dispute with train operating companies and with the Conservative government that bankrolls them.
Despite the resumption of talks with the Rail Delivery Group (RDG), the fact of the matter is that no acceptable offer has been made. We have little indication whether an offer of any kind will apply to management and control staff who make up a significant part of the rail workforce and our TSSA membership.
It was only your willingness to take industrial action that forced talks in the first place. We're determined to win a pay rise, job security and protection of your conditions. But anti-trade union laws mean that we have to ballot you again in order to renew your industrial action mandate and keep the pressure on employers in talks.
We are asking you to vote YES for strike action and YES for action short of a strike.
Ballot papers will be posted out first class on Wednesday 1 February and should be arriving with you from Thursday 2 February onwards. The ballot closes on Tuesday 28 February, but don't delay - vote yes and post your ballot back ASAP.
Vote YES twice and show your employer your strength! You must post your ballot paper for it to be counted.
Join us for an eve-of-ballot online rally to hear from your lead negotiators at 5pm on Tuesday 31 January for the latest on the dispute. Sign up here.
