TSSA pauses discussions with GMB
TSSA has paused discussions over merger with the GMB union.
TSSA had entered into talks with GMB over merger earlier this year and papers were formally lodged with the Certification Officer in February. However, following the Kennedy and Conley Reports, TSSA is taking a fresh look at the union’s strategic priorities and is prioritising implementation of the recommendations from each report.
The union’s Executive Committee met and agreed to advise the GMB that TSSA intends to pause merger discussions with GMB, or any other potential partner, for the foreseeable future. A delegation of the TSSA Interim leadership met with GMB officials yesterday to discuss the decision directly with them.
TSSA thanks GMB for their solidarity through this challenging period.
The union is completely focused on delivering for members industrially and is putting plans in place to ensure robust and effective trade union organisation and representation for members across the transport and travel industries. TSSA’s EC and staff, under the leadership of the Interim General Secretary, are working hard to successfully implement the report recommendations and put TSSA on a strong footing.
