TSSA strikes at Translink suspended after new offers ahead of The Open

Strikes involving TSSA members working at Translink have been suspended after the company made last minute offers ahead of walkouts due to start at midnight (00:01 Friday).
The breakthrough for TSSA members working as Clerical staff and as Management, Professional & Technical Grades (MPT) came after extensive talks over two days at the Labour Relations Agency (LRA) involving union officials and Translink.
*The strike action had been due to commence for Northern Ireland Railways from - 00:01 on Friday 18th July 2025 - until 23:59 on Saturday 19th July 2025. In Ulsterbus - the strike action was to take place from 00:01 on Friday 18th July 2025 until 23:59 on Saturday 19th July 2025.
Last week TSSA members working in Supervisor Grades (including railway controllers) at Translink accepted an offer of a pay rise which also halted a walkout for Friday 18th July and Saturday 19th July.
At the time the union warned that unless possible pay deals could also be found for Clerical staff as well as Management, Professional & Technical Grades (MPT) action would still take place which would have a significant impact on the ability of people to use trains and buses during the period of the planned walkouts.
The offers will now be put to TSSA members across the relevant groups. It does not, at this stage, bring the dispute to a close but does suspend all planned industrial action.
Commenting, Maryam Eslamdoust, General Secretary, TSSA said: “We feel that sufficient progress has been made with Translink to suspend the planned strikes. This is not an end to the matter because it will now be up to our Clerical and MPT members to decide if the offers made are good enough.
“From the start we have only asked for fairness and parity with other workers at Translink, and we could have reached this point some time ago had the company been in listening mode.
“Our members play a vital role - keeping public transport running safely every day of the year, with all the responsibility that entails – they should be paid accordingly,”
*TSSA represents Clerical, Administrative, Supervisory and Managerial staff in Ulsterbus and NI Railways, as well as Technical staff in NI Railways.
