TSSA welcomes HS2 'red-letter' day

TSSA has welcomed the official announcement that the go ahead is being given to start permanent work at High Speed 2 (HS2) 'super hub' station in West London.

Work will commence today with after Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, gave the nod to start work on the biggest newly built railways station in the UK. It’s expected to support 2,300 jobs at the peak of construction.

Nadine Rae, TSSA Organising Director, said:

"This is a red-letter day for HS2. This vital rail infrastructure project will bring greater capacity to our creaking rail network, as well as skilled jobs both now and in the future.

“It's vital that the government does more to encourage rail use to combat climate change and boost our economy as we emerge from the coronavirus pandemic."
