Bands 1-4 pay negotiations update

Reps and Officers held talks with Network Rail on 26 June and 8 July. As I am sure you realise, the pay anniversary date was 1 July but we believe we are starting to make progress.

Next week, we will begin in depth negotiations on a range of issues with the Company, as you will see from a communication being sent from Network Rail to all Bands 1 to 4 employees. We have pressed the Company to agree a timeline for these negotiations. Therefore, the negotiations will be on a weekly basis with the intention of completing in the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Please be reassured that our priorities have not changed and we will continue to press the Company on the aspects of pay that are important to you.

To reiterate:

  1. A pensionable basic pay increase above RPI, applicable to all Bands 1-4 and equivalent grades (without regard to their position within the pay structure) and a commensurate uplift in all pay bands, ranges, and allowances.
  2. An increase to the inner and outer London Allowance of not less than the negotiated base pay increase.
  3. Significant improvements in home to work travel facilities.

As we have stated before (and to the Company), you have been amazing in supporting the country in keeping the railway open for key workers and essential supplies. We will keep reiterating that Network Rail must recognise the fantastic work undertaken by managers in dealing with the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis, and beyond. We will continue to work constructively with the Company, but we will not accept a deal that does not recognise your value.

If you have questions or suggestions regarding your priorities on pay, please contact our excellent TSSA National Management Reps.

We will continue to update you as the negotiations progress.

Stay safe and healthy.

Together we are stronger.
