Pay and job security update 13th May

Despite numerous statements made by senior Network Rail managers that the company intends to make pay offers this year, no offers have yet been made. The company has also failed to provide an adequate response to the General Secretary’s letter seeking assurances on Pay, Terms & Conditions, and Job Security or provide any response to the other elements of our 2022 pay claims some five months after their submission.

As previously reported, the recent avoidance of dispute meeting concluded with an expectation that the company would table an offer no later than 12 May. The company has confirmed it now has authority from the Department for Transport to make an offer but failed to disclose any detail of the offer it intends to make by the accepted deadline. As a result, we have escalated the dispute to level 2 (the final level) of the dispute resolution procedures and await confirmation of a date for a further meeting.

The first avoidance of dispute meeting has now been arranged for next Thursday 19 May. The company has not yet tabled any offer but has confirmed it has licence from the Department for Transport to make an offer, so we expect that to happen at next week’s meeting. If a suitable offer is not made, then we will escalate the dispute to level 2 (the final level) of this dispute resolution procedures.
