Members in Network Rail have voted YES to strike action and YES to action short of strike.

In all three ballots, members voted overwhelming in favour of taking industrial action. Bands 5 – 8 and controllers voted 77.4% in favour of strike action and Maintenance Engineers voted 69.2% in favour of strike action. This will send a strong message to Network Rail bosses that we need action on pay, job security and terms and conditions.

Our members in Network Rail Bands 1 - 4 also returned a strong yes for strike action and action short of strike, with 68.2% voting in favour of strike action, but the turnout was just below the threshold required for strike action by the anti-trade union laws, so we cannot legally call out Bands 1 - 4 to take strike action. However, we will continue to ensure that ALL TSSA members have a voice.

Pay talks are taking place tomorrow (Tuesday 12th July) for Bands 5 – 8 & Controllers and Bands 1 – 4.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote in this important ballot. We are liaising closely with our brothers and sisters in other rail unions RMT, ASLEF and UNITE and are engaging with your TSSA Network Rail Reps about next steps and action.

We have not served notice for strike dates yet, but rest assured we will keep you updated on all developments. Please speak to your TSSA reps for more information and thank you again for taking part in this important ballot.
